Word Practice

Word Practice is where your child will practice their high frequency words. These are the words most commonly seen when reading any passage. Mastery of sight words is essential for reading fluency and rapid reading growth.

Word Practice is divided into two sections. Your child will begin practice with the Sight Word Sets. These are single words posted in a flashcard format. Sight Word practice is self-paced.

After Sight Word Sets are mastered, your child will progress to the Look & Say Sets. These are short phrases composed of high frequency words. Encourage your child to independently practice using the self-checking audio files on the Voweletics website.

  • Sight Word Sets – Your child is able to read the list of words quite fluently without any errors.

  • Look and Say Sets – Your child is able to read the list of 25 word phrases perfectly in one minute or less.

  • Go to PDF file on the Sight Words and print them out. Cut the words out and use them as flashcards and/or ways to advance with board games you already own.
